Guest Blog – Miss Cream Tease!

Miss Cream TeaseWe always love it when we find creative people who are bringing their vintage passions to life – so it was great when we heard about Bournemouth based Ruby whose stage performances and teaching are a real blast from the past!! We especially loved the idea of hen party vintage dance classes – from the charlston and flapper dresses to burlesque – what a perfect girly afternoon with a vintage tea?

Welcome to Miss Cream Tease’s guest blog….

girl dancing with shoesMy name is Miss Cream Tease and I am a cabaret and burlesque performer who lives in a world where manners still matter, classic cars are compulsory, knitting rocks and afternoon tea is never missed!

I’m passionate about performing but I also love teaching dance and regularly put my first hand experience of stage-craft and to good use in my very own dance classes , including 1940’s Social Dance, Burlesque, Latin Funk & Showgirl classes. Learning to dance can be great fun and, happily, my classes are fast becoming full of retro-tastic peeps who love to boogie.

I offer a selection of unique packages for dance workshops,  for Work Parties, Bespoke Events, Hen Nights and Birthday Celebrations, where you can enjoy a 2 hour dance session with your friends. Dressing up, although not essential, is highly encouraged!

In my 1940’s social dance workshops you can learn the dance sensations that took the era by storm, such as ‘The New York Stroll’ or ‘The Charleston Stroll’. So transport yourself back to the swinging world of the 1940’s and book a workshop now.

Valentine’s Fayre in Pictures

vintage dancingThe recent Valentine’s Fayre in Dorchester was a great success with over 500 people coming to join the vintage dancing, tea and cake and to enjoy the beautiful gifts and ideas for Valentines Day. We’ve already been asked by loads of people when our next Fayre will be and if we can repeat the Valentine’s one next year! Plans are afoot and more news will be coming soon but in the meantime here are some photos and information about the Valentine’s Fayre traders.

About the Traders and the Fayre

The Valentine’s Fayre owes a huge vote of thanks to Johanna Wolff and her wonderful musicians who co-ordinated and provided the fabulous live music and entertainment together with Dorchester Historical Dancers part of the Dorchester Dance and Ballet Club. Johanna leads a wide range of music, singing and performance groups arranging music especially for events and performing with her musicians and singers.Johanna Wolff Musicians

Historical Dancers

The Dorchester Historical Dancers agreed to come and give us a glorious display and teach some dances – kindly co-ordinated by Libby Goodchild MBE of Dorchester Dance and Ballet club. The Ballet Club is an incredible longstanding institution within Dorchester helping hundreds of young people and adults learn and perform a huge variety of dance to examination standard or just for fun.

Vintage Clothing

stockings with love written on the calvesThe Valentine’s Fayre was a great place to hunt out some gorgeous vintage clothes and we were lucky enough to have 3 local traders providing a range of clothing and accessories. The Cherry Closet is one of our favourites – Nicki and Laura brought along a great range of clothes, scarves and jewellery from their eclectic collection. More photos on Nicki’s Facebook page here: NICKI’s Pics.

Design CollectiveComplementing the Cherry Closet with their range of clothes and shabby chic gifts were Violet Pearl and The Design Collective.
