Blitz Christmas – wartime festival
This Saturday and Sunday the Tank Museum at Bovington is hosting a wartime Christmas Festival and craft fair giving a flavour of how Christmas was celebrated during the two world wars.
The museum has a fabulous 1940’s “home front” house where you can find out how families decorated their homes for Christmas and where you can make your own wartime Christmas decorations to take home
A wartime housewife provides cooking demonstrations and the Land Girls are also telling their own Christmas stories
For children there’s an American G.I Santa in the village hall, with treats (for good boys and girls!)
The museum also includes an exhibition of how soldiers celebrated Christmas in the trenches, and tells the story of the 1914 Truce
If you need to catch up on Christmas shopping then the Indoor Christmas Market has more than 70 traders selling local gifts, festive food, drink and lots more
As most of our vintage crockery is out at weddings this weekend we’re sadly not exhibiting – but Steve and I will be dropping by to check out this fabulous vintage event so if you spot us making our vintage decorations come over and say Hi!
