Veterans and Armed Forces Day

Ration bookDorchester will show its support for past and present servicemen and women at the Veterans and Armed Forces Day on Saturday 2nd July.

The event includes units of armed forces, service veterans, cadets, Ex-Ghurkas, police, ambulance and fire services, World War Two vehicles and the Wessex Military Band who will parade through the town concluding celebrations with music and entertainment in the Borough Gardens.

There are stalls and displays from the forces and if the weather is fine it seems a great vintage event for a traditional picnic.

Committee chairman George Osborne, from the Royal Naval Association, said: “We are hoping the town will come and support us, last year it was very successful and we hope it will be the same.”

The event is supported by Dorchester Town Council and the Dorchester branch of the Royal British Legion.
