Katie & Richard’s Perfectly English Wedding
Earlier this year we were invited to help Katie and Richard with the venue dressing for their elegant country house wedding near Dorchester
Katie and Richard chose Birkin House for their venue. Its a beautiful Victorian Country Manor House close to Dorchester set in fabulous gardens. Deer and peacocks grace the grounds giving it a perfect English garden setting and this was exactly right for the traditional elegance Katie and Richard envisaged
Owners Richard and Gillian have lovingly restored the property and decorated it in authentic style with Victorian colours and decor but with more than a hint of the Georgian decadence still visible from the previous century

The gardens are truly exquisite with broadleaf woodland, a herb garden, statues and stately urns on the terrace and fine velvety lawns – but there are also some quirkier additions such as the old railway carriage in the garden and of course the imperious peacocks!
Angela Vincent provided the wedding photography. She is an established fine art photographer working with her husband who is also a photographer and art director. Their approach grasps that a wedding is a once-in-a lifetime event and catching the atmosphere and emotions of the day are essential.

We love how Angela’s fascination in the glamour of the classic hollywood greats of yesteryear seeps into her images. She is a big ‘Vintage’ fan and the attention to detail in the images at Katie and Richard’s wedding was sublime. Angela’s blog has lots more sumptuous pictures of Katie and Richard’s wedding and we were delighted when she offered to share these ones with us! Follow our link to Angela’s blog HERE.
Vintage Dorset’s contribution to the day was to bring a flavour of the majestic Birkin House into the wedding marquee -festooning it with vintage bunting, beautiful damask and vintage tablecloths and perfectly gorgeous flowers and ribbons arranged in teacups, teapots and old fashioned jugs.
Add our old fashioned post box wishing well and some of our gorgeous red glass hearts for measure and the scene perfectly complemented the elegance of this beautiful period house and the classical style radiating from Katie and Richard.
“Thank you so much for everything you did to make our wedding day so perfect, I absolutely loved the decorations”
We’re sure you’ll agree – Katie and Richard look stunning in this wonderful location – the perfect bride and groom sharing the most beautiful of weddings!
