The sun shone, the vinyl turned, the coffee was frothy and the cake was scoffed! Steve and I had a fantastic day on Weymouth seafront – we dressed up, (me with my experimental 60’s hair-do, steve in his 70’s style stripe that matches his long hair and beard) We put the bunting out and had a fabulous time at the Orange Cup. We also raised an impressive £77 for the Eve Appeal

The props were all from Vintage Dorset with the exception of the record player which was kindly lent to us by Marco (Shindig) Rossi our well-known local retro music aficionado. The hair was straight from the pages of Style Me Vintage (read our blog about this must-have vintage hair book here)
I especially love this Brexton picnic set – all original ( a great prop for retro-theming). The flasks even have their own cork lids with “Acme” written on the lids! The bunting is also all hand made (ask us about our very affordable hire prices here). My shades were a great charity shop find (together with the hair scarf) – but the skirt is my Mum’s original 1960’s suede panel skirt. Gorgeous! (She is now knitting me a short sleeved snug jumper to go with it)

We made loads of cakes to share with our friends in exchange for donations to the Eve Appeal (supporting women’s gynae cancer research). Everyone said it was yummy and there were a few really nice stories and funny moments.

Shaun and Steve had a splendid muse about the potential of battery-powering record players (boys and their toys!) But, we all had a great time listening to some groovy old tunes and were really pleased with the funds we raised at the same time. Result!
To donate to the Eve Appeal please give through the Eve Appeal/Vintage Dorset JUST GIVING pages.
