Make Time for Tea- the Eve Appeal

We’ve been thinking hard about which charities Vintage Dorset should sponsor this year. Vintage teas are one of those little luxuries that particular appeals to women (we love fancy tea parties) and making time for tea is something we all enjoy…

So it seems hugely appropriate to choose a charity that invites people to have a TEA PARTY to raise awareness and tackle the fourth largest cancer-killer of women – ovarian and gynaecological cancers.

Around a million women worldwide are diagnosed with gynaecological cancer every year.  In the UK, 18,000 women are diagnosed and nearly 7,500 women die every year. Yet, awareness and funding of gynaecological cancers remains low. The Eve Appeal funds vital research to develop better methods of prediction, detection, treatment and care of gynaecological cancer helping save women’s lives in the UK and throughout the world.

Make Time for Tea is a great idea from the Eve Appeal inviting people to get together for a tea party between friends, share cake baking and each give a donation to the Eve Appeal. We’re already planning our own tea party, have been saving our tea-money and will be selling gorgeous Eve Appeal pins for the charity at our Valentine’s Fayre on 13th February – but you can have your own tea party too!

Follow this link to the Eve Appeal website for a Make Time for Tea “Tea Pack”. The pack includes cute heart-pin-broaches, balloons, posters and help for setting up your tea party together with leaflets about Ovarian Cancer and how to spot the signs. TV celebrity Lorraine Kelly is supporting the appeal during March which is Ovarian Cancer awareness month.
